Doctor stats

***I think mostly girls read my blog, so they would be the ones interested in this info, if your a boy you probably don't know what this even means but feel free to not read on if you don't want to know any specific pregnancy info that goes along with this late stage of the game***

We went to the doctor today, we are in the every week appointments from here on out. I somehow lost a pound since the last visit, really not sure how that happened.

My hip pains appear to be completely normal, my doctor says walking to induce labor is over-rated so there's no need for me to do that if my hips are hurting.

I usually fluctuate naturally from hyper-responsibility to procrastination. I don't know why but I've not yet packed our hospital bags and we still need to get the car seat. (the reason we don't have our car seat yet should actually be a post of its own, its involves babies R us and a fraud investigation related to a gift card that appears to have gotten cyber stole from us). Doctor was asking if we had done that yet but we have not, Since we are at 37 weeks this Saturday we really should go ahead and get that done. The house is a bit of mess right now I am hoping that nesting thing happen soon but might have to just buckle down and get er done.

So here's the info on our visit today, I am at a 1, 30% effaced, and ultra sound confirms she is head down! Still doesn't mean much to indicate if she will come soon, on time or late but thats the stats. I would really really like to avoid any kind of induction, so I am prayerful and hopefully she won't come too late. Appreciate your prayers for us during this next month.

The most asked question...The honest answer...

I don't really mind this question as it is the most asked question throughout pregnancy which is, "How are you feeling?" I think it shows kindness and I have been very happy throughout most of pregnancy to answer honestly, "I'm feeling great."

Lately if I was being more honest this week has started in with some not so fun symptoms that I have been exempt from for most of my pregnancy, I really still can't complain much because these aren't that bad at all in the grand scheme, but here they are in no particular order:

1) I made it almost the whole pregnancy with no feet swelling...I am looking at them now and don't even recognize them. So strange. I've got them propped up and I'm downing the water.
2) My hips are giving me all sorts of problems, I can't decide its its random nerve pain or muscle spasms but I've read some about how your ligaments are loosening and all sorts of things are happening that can cause that. Now that the weathers nice I wanted to start walking regularly, some info I read said this could help, but I notice more pain when I'm really active so I will check with the doc this week on that.
3) Everyone keeps saying how small my tummy is for 9 months, sometimes I can see that but starting to feel past the cute pregnant phase and into giant, generally unattractive feeling, uncomfortable phase and had my first maternity shirt that has been fitting not be long enough anymore.
4) I try to write everything down that I possibly can starting this week, especially at work, I am generally a skilled multi-tasker which helps working in my often high paced work environment but my baby brain finally hit pretty full force this week. If I don't write things down my brain can not retain it for much of any amount of time. I read something once that we can never reatain more than 7 items in our head at a time, so if we put more than 7 things in something has to leave, I think during this phase of pregnancy it must be more like 1 or maybe 2. At the end of the day I go to shut down email and am amazed by the number of emails I wrote but had never sent because I got side tracked and then forgot about them all together.

As I finish this post I am watching Ava move all around in my tummy and I am reminded all of this will be very worth it. It really has been a mostly smooth ride and its just a bit longer on this phase of the journey. I am thankful for the blessing of this pregnancy and more than ever I am marveling at God's design in all of this.

Acting out...

Something has definitely been up with Rory's behavior over the last few weeks. I am hoping she is getting this out of her system before Ava arrives.

For my therapists friends that read this blog here's my clinical Analysis: Symptoms are consistent with Adjustment Disorder with mixed disturbance of mood and conduct. Stressor that induced symptoms is likely a major change in family system with upcoming arrival of baby sister to a previous only dog family. I have noticed an overall increase in regressive behaviors including clingyness, difficulty separating from caregivers, increase in behavioral problems and difficultly regulating emotions.

This is evidenced by two specific incidents of regressing to behaviors from puppy hood, including getting a hold of a diaper and tearing it up (don't worry no babies in this house yet, so was clean and rolled up and I am sure it looked like a toy I must of brought home for her).

and running away for a brief period of time today. I was about to leave for our baby shower, I'm 9 months pregnant and am chasing Rory around the neighborhood! Usually we can open the front door and she knows not to leave our front yard and stays close to us and comes back inside when I call her. We have had little to no problems with this since she was a puppy. Today was a whole different story, front yard priveleges will be restricted for the time being. Other ways to address these issues will be to increase special time and positive attention for appropriate behaviors.
I of course am really just kidding with most of this post. All these things did happen and I do feel like Rory can sense change around her. Even thought I did want to kill her today when I was chasing her around the neighborhood, she is a sweet dog overall and has brought much enjoyment to our family, I know her and Ava will be good pals. I am a big animal lover and I hope Ava might enjoy them too, There's something special about your first dog and I am glad Ava will have that experience with Rory.

One month away!!

Some of the many random and not so random thoughts now running through my head now that my due date is officially only 30 days away as of tomorrow!

Starting with the random:
Weight gain thus far is 25 pounds. At this point in the ball game I could snack on something almost 24 hours a day. I really wanted to keep my weight gain between the suggested 25-35 lb recommendation I am going to actually start having to exercise some self discipline to keep that on target. (I say this as I am sipping my Dr. Pepper Icy at 9:30 at night).

I've never been the most graceful person but now I am just down rate dangerous. I have lots of scraps and bruises to prove it. I knock things over, bump into things, drop things, its really getting out of hand.

Everything else (even including labor and delivery) the more I read or gain knowledge about the less overwhelming it feels... the exception to this theory is when it comes to breast feeding, the more I read and hear about that the more challenging it sounds. Even when you master the feeding part of it I've read now two books with totally opposing views one is recommending feeding on demand primarily. The other suggests feeding on a flexible schedule, both theories site lots of research and feedback from mom's who used these methods. Tomorrow is baby feeding class in the evening, we'll see if that's any help.

We haven't settled on Ava's middle name. The leader right now in the race is Ava Rose. My other favorite was Ava Claire but Ryan wasn't a fan. It only took as 7 months to settle on Ava but we don't have that same time to settle on the middle name so we will be pondering on that this last month.

Now the less Random:
Oh course I am getting so excited to meet her, to hold her, to see Ryan hold her, to introduce her to Rory and my nieces, all our friends and family and to start on the next phase of this journey of trying to honor God with this incredible gift and blessing he is entrusting to us. However, I want to try to not wish this month over already, Right now my schedule is still mostly my own and I can take Ava perfectly content with me in my tummy wherever I choose to go. I think part of me will miss her physically being a part of me. I know the joy of holding her will over shadow that but still this is our last month together being this literally connected to one another, I have this month weather I wish she was already here or not so trying to keep persective on thoughts and feelings on enjoying this time.

Happy Birthday Allie B!

We celebrated Allie's 7th birthday the other weekend, I can't believe she's that old already! She's got some good genes, little lucky duck, she only grows up and not out, she still can wear toddler size pants! She keeps us laughing with her flare for fashion, her contagious laugh and Jokes. She sweet and loves to cuddle and can't wait to meet her baby girl cousin. She's a girl after my own heart, all week of her birthday she says things like, since its my birthday week can I...? I also stretch out my birthday celebrations this way, I've been known to go as far as since its my birthday month can I....? Happy birthday Allie B so glad you were born!
This keeps loading sideways for some reason but this the bottle cap necklace holder I made for one of Allie's gifts:

Here's Allie with her purple and pink cupcakes:

So looks like Ava will be the next birthday to celebrate in my family. (At least I hope she's here by Jen's birthday on May 2nd).
