Something you should know about me to understand the excitement of this post. Throughout my childhood my year revolved mainly around two annual experiences, both rich with tradition, renewal, intense amounts of fun and the bonus of spending lots of time with those you love dearly: Christmas and Church Camp.
After Christmas each year I started the count down to Church Camp and then after Church Camp I started the count down to Christmas. I remember clearly the years my sister got to go and I wasn't old enough yet. I remember crying when we left because I wanted to stay so bad. If you asked me which I enjoyed more, I can't really say, just too hard to choose. Since becoming an adult my annual trip to church camp is what I can put my finger on what I miss most. I hope Ava won't care if I tag along with her at church camp at least a few of the years she goes. Until then I will take any version of church camp I can to get my fix.
Till she gets the full of experience of the week long version of mess hall eating, no air conditioning sleeping, late night talking, around the fire singing, laugh out loud pranking and in his nature worshiping. We gladly enjoyed the toddler Bible camp day our church put on.
The camp is designed for parent's to go along side as they make their way through lots of fun sensory play, art and other fun activities as they learned this year about David.
They had different booths set up around to do at your own pace.
Below Ava is making a sheep cookie and learned about how David took care of sheep.
Here she is getting her stones out of the brook like David:
Two therapy dogs came for part of the day. They learned that David took care of animals for his job and they could take care of the dogs by feeding them biscuits they could "purchase" with their coins at the market booth. Ava sat and watched this giant dog for a long time (pretty sure she had never seen a dog this big) and then finally decided she was ready to go pet him. She went back and forth after that sitting and watching and then petting:
The morning ended with a banquet lunch with King David. Ava liked drinking out of the fancy glass.
In our take home bag we got an activity book and story book, along with the crafts we made to keep learning the story. I would say first bible camp was a big success. It was such a fun day to share together!

That is really neat idea. Sounds like lots of fun.
I wish we could have been there! It looks like it was a great time!
